How LitBuy Spreadsheet Links Are Checked

This page explains the technical checks behind the current spreadsheet on the homepage. It does not reproduce the link table or assess products, sellers, authenticity, or purchase outcomes.

Data source and scope

The current homepage table is limited to 11 unique destination URLs taken from links previously published on this site. The displayed link names come from those source-page anchors; they are not destination-page titles.

Repeated destinations are represented once. A technical response check can show that a URL answered at a point in time, but it cannot establish what a destination offers or whether its content will remain unchanged.

Checking process

  1. Capture the published source

Record the link label, source page URL, and exact destination URL as they appeared on this site.

  2. Normalize and deduplicate the URL

Normalize only what is needed for stable identity and remove repeated destinations without rewriting the owner-published target.

  3. Check technical reachability

Request the URL and follow its response chain. If a HEAD response is inconclusive, including a HEAD 404, a limited ranged GET may be used for confirmation.

  4. Record the result

Store the final URL, link status, check method, and the timestamp recorded during the technical check. No destination product or seller content is copied into the directory.

Link status definitions

Status describes the observed URL response at the recorded time. It is not a rating or recommendation.

Active
The final confirmation request returned a successful HTTP response at the recorded check time.
Redirected
The submitted URL resolved to a different final URL, and that change was recorded.
Blocked
The automated request was denied or challenged, so technical reachability could not be confirmed.
Dead
The final confirmation returned a terminal error, such as HTTP 404, after any required follow-up request.
Unknown
The available response evidence was insufficient or conflicting, so no other status was assigned.

How checked_at is produced

Each record has an ISO 8601 UTC timestamp recorded during its technical URL check. For the 27 September 2026 checks, this records response completion or response saving. The timestamp belongs to that check sequence; it is not a product update date, destination publication date, or promise of continued availability.

Check limitations

  • Responses can change immediately after a check.
  • Blocking can prevent a conclusive result.
  • A successful response does not assess product quality, seller reliability, authenticity, or purchase safety.
  • Third-party URLs, content, and availability remain outside this site's control.

Report a changed or broken link

Use the homepage reporting section to identify the displayed link name, destination URL, and the issue you observed. Reports are inputs for a later check and do not change a status automatically.
